PROFILE

When I started to live with cats 17 years ago, I started drawing them, drawn to them by a strange attraction. All I draw is cats.

Originally from Shiga prefecture, Fukushima began painting cats 18 years ago.
After graduating high school, Fukushima moved abroad to England and continued education at Central St. Martin's Art College to study design and illustration. After returning to Japan, she was struck by the importance and profundity of Japanese art, and started learning it.
After that, Fukushima began to tirelessly develop her own unique and appealing mixed-media techniques using collage, acrylic and more.
From 2010 until now, She has been working both in Japan and abroad from her base in Kansai, with energetic layouts and a fine touch drawing on Japanese art, as well as a lively use of color that goes beyond that normally seen in traditional Japanese art.
